JOHAN MEESKE watercolours

Johan Meeske at work on the salt marsh: he pours water onto a sponge, in front of him a table full of palettes, paint tubes and brushes, behind him the mudflats at low tide.

About the painter

Johan Meeske belongs to the category of spontaneous painters. No time wasted on preliminary studies, but capturing directly what has been chosen as the subject on the spot.

Born in Groningen (1950), trained at the Minerva art academy, a member of the Northern Watercolourists and the Dutch Society of Marine Painters. His watercolours are strikingly large and have the directness and speed of someone driven, full of wonder and delight.
